Municipal Elections 2014 .

George Koukoudakis is elected Mayor of Hydra, with 50.57% in the Municipal elections 2014.
In the early hours, after a long count, the election results awarded victory to the “For Hydra” party and George Koukoudakis. Incumbent mayor Mr. Kotronis wished the new administration strength and expressed hope that it would continue the work of the previous municipal authority.
The new mayor of Hydra, George Koukoudakis, said to a very excited, cheering crowd, “Hydra won tonight. … It is a win for the island and a new beginning. A big thank-you to all of you who embraced this effort, stood beside us, and did not bend. And a big thank-you to all the people of Hydra for this great honor. I and my associates will work tirelessly to accomplish the task before us.


Bio of the new Mayor :
I was born in Hydra in 1978.
I am an honors graduate in political science from the British Exeter University. I have a master’s degree in European politics from the Department of History and International Relations at the University of Cambridge and a PhD in international relations from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Faculty of Law, University of Athens. Both the master's and doctoral work demonstrate my accomplishments in scholarship.
I fulfilled my military obligation as a reservist petty officer in the Navy.
Since 2007 I have taught strategic analysis at the Military Academy, and I have also taught in the Department of Political Science and International Relations, University of Peloponnese; the Department of Regional Economic Development, University of Central Greece; and at the Merchant Marine Academy of Hydra.
I am also:
• Research associate at the Greek Center of European Studies (Research Center supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) (2009–)
• Lecturer at the School of National Defense (2012–)
My studies and articles have been featured in international journals and conferences. I am also the author of two scientific books of international relations and strategic studies.
I have been
• Special advisor to the Ministry of Education
• President of the Union of Hydra graduates of Universities, Technical colleges and Vocational Training Institutes
• Mayor of European Programmes, Tourism, Culture and International Relations in the period 01/2007 to 07/2007
• Member of the Association of Political Scientists in Britain
• Member of the Working Group on the Greek-Turkish Social Dialogue
As a minority city councilor I have served as:
• Vice president of the Municipal Council
• Member of the Mayoral Committee (current economic committee)
• Member of the Local Coordinating Body
From 2008 to 2010 I worked with the Youth Entrepreneurship Piraeus, encouraging young people to start their own businesses.

I speak English and French.
